2010 Antinori, Solaia, IGT
VM98RP97
The 2010 Solaia is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet. This is a beautiful vintage for Solaia which is only produced when the conditions are excellent. The fruit is particularly marked by warm days and cool nights, enhancing the aromatics and freshness in the wine. Historical data Solaia, a twenty hectare (50 acre) vineyard of the Tignanello estate with a southwestern exposure, is situated at 350-400 meters (1175-1325 feet) above sea level on a soil of calcareous rock (known as "alberese in Tuscany). The Marchesi Antinori firm produced this wine for the first time in the 1978 vintage with an initial blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc, a blend repeated again in 1979. In the following vintages 20% of Sangiovese was added to the Cabernet grapes and the ratio of Cabernet Franc to Cabernet Sauvignon was changed in order to create a wine which has now become definitive in its various composing elements. Solaia is only produced in superior vi

2011 Bruno Giacosa, Barbaresco, Asili Riserva
VM89RP95
Internationally acclaimed for crafting wines of pure, refined, and intricate character, Bruno Giacosa embarked on his winemaking journey at a youthful age of 15, contributing to the family winery established in 1871.
Located in the village of Nieve within Piedmont, Giacosa acquired his own vineyards in 1982. Guided by his 'updated traditional' winemaking philosophy, he expertly developed the attributes of the Nebbiolo grape, achieving a balance of power and elegance in his wines.

Since 2006, Bruno's daughter, Bruna, took over the reins of the estate and has successfully maintained her father's legacy, continuing to produce exceptional wines.

“This is an incredible wine that reminds me of the perfect 2000 Barolo Rocche del Falletto. Flowers, spices, leather and animals. Dried mushrooms too. Then changes to Japanese ginger and lemon peel. Full-bodied but refined and so long. It has layers of fruit and power. Decadent. Ripe and intense. Perfect balance and harmony. “

99 Pts, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com (November 2015)

“The 2011 Barbaresco Riserva Asili (red label) is a full and generous wine that wraps thickly over the senses. The bouquet shows enormous depth and power with a generous presentation of dark fruit, cassis, balsam herb, cola, licorice, tar and lingering smoke. There is an evident sense of fruit ripeness here that helps to build momentum and staying power. Clay soils in the vineyard site have also helped to contribute to the heft and full-bodied nature of this special wine. The finish is characterized by mild acidity and lingering flavours of ripe fruit. The opulent fruit of the wine recalls the 2007 and 2004 vintages.”

“Piercing scents of truffle, rose water, macerated cherry and medicinal herbs are the hallmarks of this elegant red. Less evolved and harmonious on the palate, with a core of sweet fruit and
tightly wound, dense tannins. Stays fresh and long on the extended finish. Best from 2022 through 2043.”

Fermentation and maceration takes place in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts for at least 3 weeks.
Ageing follows in French oak barrels and casks for 24 months

“Exotic spice, pipe tobacco, dark-skinned berry, forest floor and a whiff of French oak all come together on this structured red. The elegant, full-bodied palate evokes Marasca cherry, black raspberry, liquorice and white pepper while vibrant acidity and firm, fine-grained tannins provide balance. It’s still young, with great energy and will benefit from more time in the bottle.” (3/2018)

The 2014 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo impresses for the depth and the intensity of the fruit. This wine is entirely produced from Sangiovese and is aged in French oak for 18-20 months before bottling. This wine carries elegance and finesse, rather than power. Red fruits and blackcurrant are prominent with a touch of spice from the oak.
