Port Charlotte PMC:01 2013
Bruichladdich's Exploration Series, an adventurous series that explores cask maturation in small-batch releases through its heavily-smoked Port Charlotte whisky. The distillery is no stranger to using wine casks for maturation, but goes a step further than most of its contemporaries, selecting casks from particular regions and even estates. This 2013 distillation was matured initially in first fill ex-bourbon casks for four years before a second maturation of five years in ex-Pomerol wine casks from Bordeaux's Right Bank. This is a big statement dram, giving tart red fruits and smoked berries, plus plenty of juicy melon, coastal salinity and hints of marzipan.

The second iteration of the Lochlea's celebration of smoke. Rather than peating the whisky itself, the malt was matured exclusively in ex-Islay whisky casks, with the Second Crop utilising solely 200 litre barrels rather than the quarter cask and barrel mix of the First Crop, imparting a subtle smokiness to the malt whilst retaining the farm-forward profile of Lochlea.

Ardnamurchan AD/ The Midgie
A celebration of Scotland's number one annoyance, the humble Midgie. Whilst this rather tongue-in-cheek branding shows the good humour of Ardnamurchan, the whisky in the bottle is no joke indeed. This brilliant small-batch expression is a union of five Madeia barriques, five Sauternes barriques, one sherry butt and 13 bourbon barrels! The whisky also follows Ardnamurchan's practice of marrying peated and unpeated malt, a 60% to 40% ration respectively. Natural colour, non-chill filtered and bottled at a robust 48% abv, this is sure to become a fan favourite.

Ichiro’s Malt Double Distilleries 2021 Limited Edition
Historically, Japanese distilleries have shown little interest in sharing casks with one another the way Scotch distilleries so readily do, seemingly bearing a greater sense of rivalry. In a new age of Japanese distilling and craft production, Chichibu have shaken such predilections, sharing casks with the Mars distillery to produce this limited-edition blended malt. A colourful canvas of tropical and citrus fruits fills the nose and palate, with touches of wood spice fizzling through the finish. Natural colour and non-chill filtered.
