2018 Cloudy Bay, Chardonnay
JR17
Founded in 1985 by David Hohnen and winemaker Kevin Judd, Cloudy Bay gained global acclaim for its Sauvignon Blanc, putting New Zealand on the wine map.
In 2003, it joined Veuve Clicquot, later becoming part of the LVMH family in 2010.

The Chardonnay is sourced from diverse vineyards utilizing their complementary soil characteristics. Following gentle pressing, the juice undergoes settling and racking before maturing in French oak barriques, including 15% new ones.
After fermentation, the wine ages for 11 months, with 21% undergoing malolactic fermentation.

The 2018 Chardonnay captivates with a bright, refined nose, revealing subtle spice, candied citrus, stone fruit, and orchard blossom. Its palate, fresh and alluring, promises depth and evolving complexity.

This meticulously crafted wine pairs beautifully with seafood and dishes with creamy flavours. Try it with tomato and Mozzarella salad, soft cheeses, cream sauces or smoked or chargrilled dishes.

"Ripe apricot and peach aromas with some gently savoury, bread and biscuit notes. Tautly composed"

2020 Folding Hill, Ballasalla Pinot Noir, Central Otago
Folding Hill is a small family owned wine company that makes premium wines from fruit grown entirely on its own 11 acre, certified organic vineyard in Bendigo Central Otago.
Virtually all viticulture is done by hand and yields are managed to provide optimally ripe fruit that allow our wines to fully express the beautiful site they come from.

They use traditional old world techniques and a “hands off” approach of minimal intervention with their wine making. The wine is made with fully destemmed, but not crushed, fruit that is vinified in small open top fermenters and matured in French oak barriques.
This example shows classic Central Otago flavours of both red and darker fruits, spice and balanced oak.
This Pinot noir is typically a more ‘drink young’ but it also does age well over 3 to 5 years.

2018 Matawhero, IRWIN Chardonnay
Viticulture began in Gisborne in the 1800s by happy accident, when vine-carrying settlers landed in Poverty Bay mistakenly believing it to be Hawkes Bay.
The Gisborne wine region lies on the north-eastern corner of New Zealand’s North Island, the first wine region in the world to see the dawn.
Sea breezes during the summer help to moderate the intensity of the region's sunlight and extend the growing season, adding complexity and acidity to the berries.

The Matawhero winery and vineyards in Gisborne were purchased by Kirsten and Richard Searle in 2008 from New Zealand pioneer winemaker Denis Irwin, who established the winery in the late 1960’s

This premier Chardonnay serves as a homage to the late Bill Irwin and his son Denis, the founders of Matawhero Wines. This meticulously crafted, barrel-fermented Gisborne Chardonnay is only produced in exceptional vintages.
