Château La Grave
Château La Grave Pomerol is a family-owned estate located in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, renowned for producing wines that capture the essence of the region’s unique terroir. The estate spans 7.5 hectares, with vineyards situated on the plateau of Pomerol. The estate has been in the Boudinaud family since 1978, with a focus on sustainable farming and traditional winemaking practices. Château La Grave Pomerol is known for producing wines that combine power and finesse, showcasing the distinctive qualities of Pomerol’s terroir.
The vineyard is primarily planted with 90% Merlot, which thrives in the clay-rich soils of Pomerol, producing wines that are rich, soft, and fruit-forward. The remaining 10% is dedicated to Cabernet Franc, which adds aromatic complexity and freshness to the wine. The vineyard is carefully managed, with hand-harvesting and rigorous sorting at harvest to ensure that only the finest fruit is selected. After fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, the wine undergoes aging for 18 months in French oak barrels, with approximately 30% of the barrels being new. This oak aging imparts a delicate layer of spice and structure, complementing the wine’s inherent fruitiness

The oak aging provides additional complexity with notes of vanilla and spice, enhancing the wine’s depth without overshadowing the fruit. The wine has excellent aging potential, typically reaching its peak after 8 to 12 years, when its complexity and structure are fully revealed.
