Producer Profile
La Pousse d’Or
Domaine de La Pousse d’Or is a renowned domaine based in the village of Volnay in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune region. The 13 hectares of vineyard are spread among the communes of Volnay, Pommard and Santenay, each producing distinctive and stylish wines. The Domaine de La Pousse d’Or is distinguished by its 7 grands crus, 11 premier crus including 3 monopoles, in Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Offering you the purest expression of our exceptional terroirs has been the Domaine’s obsession for centuries.
Since the end of the last century, Patrick Landanger has owned the estate. He has made significant investments both in the vines and in the vinification and aging facilities. He is joined by his son, Benoît, who has helped him with the winemaking since 2013. Their ambitions in term of quality are reflected in the deep respect for the terroirs they work. In 2018, Patrick gave way to Benoît for the management of the Domaine de la Pousse D'Or.
It is a forward thinking estate and one which was instrumental in pioneering a new technique for evaporating excess water to re-balance the must, resulting in less need for chaptalisation. Their vines are cultivated via biodynamic methods, and vinification is according to slow and natural methods. Wines are aged on the lees for 18 months, of which 12 months are in oak barrels, giving a great aptitude for ageing as well as exceptional balance and richness.
The vineyards of Domaine de la Pousse d'Or are a true representation of Volnay's allure. The name itself, "Golden Earth," captures the essence of the region's remarkable terroir. The vineyards are meticulously tended to bring out the purest expression of Pinot Noir & Chardonnay.
The domaine offers an array of single-vineyard wines that showcase Burgundy's intricate soils and microclimates. Each parcel receives meticulous attention, allowing the land's nuances to shine through.
