Champagne Marguet is located in the village of Ambonnay in the Montagne de Reims - the heartland of Grand Cru Pinot Noir. The family property was founded in 1870, and fifth-generation member Benoît Marguet-Bonnerave remains at the helm today.
Benoît converted operations to biodynamic viticulture in 2009, following the rhythmic cycles of nature, cosmic and lunar cycles in all Marguet’s cuvées. Some of his methods are far from conventional – as are his wines, which are some of the most highly-rated and expressive in the region. Since 2010 the decision was made to work the soil using horses, rather than heavy machinery, in order to contribute to the well-being of the earth by working the land in a gentle and respectful way. The average age of the vines is an impressive 40 years and they receive preparations in biodynamics, phytotherapy and aromatherapy (essential oils).
Benoît’s expertise and delicate touch in the vineyards are highly regarded within the Champagne vigneron community. Even Krug has enlisted his skills to cultivate their Ambonnay Pinot Noir grapes. His cuvées and designated vineyard sites serve as exquisite representations of terroir. Timeless, ground-breaking, and expressive, these wines provide exceptional value, unmatched purity, and outstanding quality that reflect the unique characteristics of their specific plots.
The winemaking style at Champagne Marguet is marked by a delicate balance between tradition and innovation. They employ old wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks for fermentation and aging, marrying the best of both worlds to craft wines of exceptional finesse and character.
Champagne Marguet's offerings, including their single-vineyard expressions and vintage cuvées, consistently receive critical acclaim.
Nickolls and Perks is delighted to offer arguably the widest range of Marguet Champagnes available in the UK today.
