Tasting Notes
Vinous 90
Bright lemon-yellow. Pure aromas of musky lime, mango and sweet herbs are lifted by a spicy note. Juicy and intense, with plenty of fresh acidity enlivening the flavors of tropical fruits, lime and cinnamon; some smoky botrytis provides another dimension. Finishes long but a little hard, with a mineral element. Neither especially fat nor oily, this graceful wine is made from grapes grown on the lower slopes of the Altenbourg.
Anticipated maturity: 2018-2026
Wine Advocate 91
Sourced from the bottom of the Altenbourg and the Furstentum Grand Cru, the 2014 Gewurztraminer Cuvee Laurence yielded not more than 15 hectoliter per hectare because of drosophila suzukii. The wine starts discreet on the nose and reveals the purity of granite soils combined with the more aromatic fruit of the Furstentum. Very delicate, filigreed and sweet on the palate, but also deep and complex in the elegant flow, with a crisp and salty finish. Bottled 10 days before I tasted it at the end of June this year.
Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030
