Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot
Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot, formerly known as Beausejour-Dr-Fagouet, is a Grand Cru Classe B estate in the appellation of Saint-Emilion. The vineyards sit on the slopes just above Chateau Angelus, just west of the town of Saint-Emilion.
Historically, the vineyard was cultivated by the monks of the Church of St-Martin during the Middle Ages. It was alter acquired by the Geres family in the 17th Century, then later renamed to Beausejour. When the estate was passed down to Pierre-Paulin Ducarpe, he later divided it between his children – his son sold his half to Dr Fagouet who named his half Chateau Beausejour-Dr-Fagouet, and his daughter later wed Dr Duffau-Lagarrosse, and thus their half was renamed Chateau Beausejour-Duffau-Lagarrosse.
The vineyard covers 15.6 hectares with 70% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. Their wines are matured mostly in new oak, and the results are ripe, concentrated and intense.
