Producer Profile
Chateau Canon
Chateau Canon is Premier Cru Classe B estate in the Saint-Emilion appellation of Bordeaux, situated just South West of the old town. Since the 20th Century, they have been regarded as one of the foremost producers in the region. They showcase the sheer power and elegance of Saint-Emilion.
It was originally a small vineyard planted around the Church of Saint-Martin by Jean Bies in the 18th Century. It was a 12hectare ‘clos’ encircled by a wall. The estate was later sold to Jacques Kanon in 1760, whose name is likely the route of the new name.
Today, the vineyard area extends over 21.5 hectares, with 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc. Their wines are wonderfully robust and concentrated with elegant blue fruit character coupled with mineral complexity.
