Producer Profile
Château Saint-Pierre
Château Saint-Pierre is the smallest classified growth within the appellation of St-Julien. It was declared to be a Fourth Growth estate in the notorious 1855 Bordeaux Classification, but over the course of a century it was broken up into smaller parts. It was later restored to its original holdings in 1982, by then-owner Henri Martin.
The estate covers 17 hectares planted to 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, split into 4 main blocks. On average, the vines are 50 years of age, planted on soil comprised of gravel, sand and clay.
In 2016, they completely renovated their entire facilities. Despite this, the still choose to produce the wine at the neighbouring estate Chateau Gloria. They are also currently in the process of undergoing organic conversion, and they utilise biodynamic practices across their production.
