The 2019 Volnay Chevrets 1er Cru has a more backward nose compared to the Fremiets, darker fruit with a pastille-like quality. The palate is well balanced with sappy red berry fruit, fine acidity with that pastille leitmotif returning on the elegant and pure finish. This Volnay is refined and approachable, but I suspect it has the legs to give 15-20 years of drinking pleasure.
Anticipated maturity: 2023-2040

The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Les Chevrets offers up aromas of plums, cassis, orange rind, petals and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, lively and nicely concentrated, it’s bright and fine-boned, concluding with a long finish. Produced from almost 60-year-old vines, this is a long-time fixture of the range.
Anticipated maturity: 2022-2045
