Producer Profile
Château Lynch-Moussas
Château Lynch-Moussas is a Fifth Growth Bordeaux estate, locate within the appellation of Pauillac. Its history dates back to the 18th century, when it was part of the larger Lynch estate owned by the Lynch family of Irish origin. Over time, the estate was divided, and Château Lynch-Moussas emerged as its own entity, gradually building a reputation for producing structured and age-worthy red wines.
The estate is currently owned and managed by the Castéja family, who acquired it in the early 20th century. Under their stewardship, particularly through significant investments and modernization efforts in the vineyards and cellar, the quality of Château Lynch-Moussas wines has markedly improved. The vineyard spans around 60 hectares, predominantly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which thrive in the gravelly soils characteristic of Pauillac. These grape varieties are carefully blended to produce wines that reflect both the power and elegance typical of the region.
Wines from Château Lynch-Moussas are known for their deep colour, pronounced cassis and blackberry aromas, and a firm tannic structure that allows for long aging. While perhaps not as celebrated as some of its neighboring Grand Cru Classé estates, Lynch-Moussas offers excellent value and has gained attention for its consistency and refinement, particularly in recent vintages. The estate continues to innovate while respecting traditional winemaking techniques, maintaining its status as a noteworthy contributor to the legacy of Pauillac.
