The 2020 Chateau du Moulin Rouge has dispensed with the greenness on the nose that I detected from barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, missing a little complexity but there is appreciable purity on the finish. It deserves a higher score.

The 2020 Le Moulin is a heady, flamboyant wine. Blackberry preserves, bittersweet chocolate, incense, leather, smoke, cloves and sweet oak are all amplified in the glass. Le Moulin is not at all subtle, but it will appeal to readers who like plush, concentrated reds. I find the style a bit over the top. Somehow, though, it works.
Anticipated maturity: 2023-2030

Cru bourgeois superieur. 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc. Gravelly hilltop terroir. Yield 47 hl/ha. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, one-third new. 90,000 bottles.
Mid crimson. Very correct nose. No dallying with New World notions and overt sweetness here! Tastes like a second wine of a classed growth, but is probably cheaper than them. GV for classicists? (JR)
Anticipated maturity: 2024-2029
