Tasting Notes
Vinous 93
The 2020 Clos de Vougeot le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru has an intense, quite penetrating bouquet with copious black cherry and cassis scents interwoven with rose petal and violet aromas. The palate is quite dense and multi-layered with dark berry fruit laced with white pepper and bay leaf that builds towards quite a backward finish that will requite 8-10 years to reach its drinking window. A lot of wine in this Clos Vougeot.

Situated next to the Echezeaux vineyard, and above the Grands Echezeaux. From a plot of 94 ares. 84-year-old vines, with a propensity to millerandage. Julie Gros explains their vines show remarkable depth and consistency, year in, year out. Tank sample. Admirable fruit and depth; spice and dark-red fruit; quite a tannic charge on the finish. A good example from this heterogenous grand cru. (MH)
