The 2020 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru has a strict, crushed stone and Alpine stream-scented bouquet. There’s a bit of SO2 present although it become subsumed with aeration. Returning after ten minutes, it lacks a bit of identity. The palate is concentrated with slightly honeyed fruit, fine acidity and relatively grippy, though it needs more complexity and mineralite on the finish. Not bad, but not the best in this flight of Grand Crus. This tasted far better from vat. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
