Producer Profile
Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande
Chateau Pichon Comtesse is a Second Growth estate located within the appellation of Pauillac on Bordeaux’s left bank. They are also part of an unofficial group regarded as the ‘Super Seconds’, who are recognised for their exceptional quality and consistency.
The estate was founded in 1850 when the Pichon Longueville estate was split between Baron Raul Pichon Longueville and his three sisters. After the First World War, the estate was sold to a consortium led by the négociants Louis and Edouard Miailches who further established the estates reputation for making stylish, quality wines. More recently, the estate was acquired by the Rouzand family (the owners of Louis Roederer) in 2007.
The estate sits in the southern part of Pauillac, just next to Chateau Latour and a short distance from the border with St Julien. They currently have 102 hectares of vines planted with all Bordeaux varieties across 100 vineyards plots. Pride of place is given to Cabernet Sauvignon, the star of the Medoc.
