Château La Croix de Gay is a distinguished estate in the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux. The estate covers 8 hectares, located on the renowned plateau of Pomerol, where the soils are rich in clay and gravel. This terroir is particularly beneficial for producing wines with a perfect balance of richness and finesse. Owned by the Moueix family since 1950, the estate benefits from the expertise of Jean-François Moueix, who has significantly contributed to its reputation. Château La Croix de Gay is often considered a hidden gem in Pomerol, producing wines that rival those of its more famous neighbours.
The vineyard of Château La Croix de Gay is planted primarily with 90% Merlot, the signature grape variety of Pomerol, with the remaining 10% dedicated to Cabernet Franc. This blend allows the estate to produce wines that combine the fruit-forward richness of Merlot with the complexity and structure brought by Cabernet Franc. The estate’s vines are planted on deep clay soils over gravel, which provides excellent drainage and helps produce grapes that are both concentrated and balanced. Harvesting is done by hand, ensuring that only the ripest and most carefully selected bunches are used. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and the wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, with about 30-40% new oak, allowing the wine to develop its depth and complexity

The flagship wine, which bears the estate’s name, showcases intense aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackberries, plums, and cherries, along with hints of violets, truffles, and subtle earthy notes.
