Producer Profile
Emiliana
At the end of the 1990s, Rafael and Jose Guiliasti perceived that the market was beginning to change, and consumers were consciously choosing products based not only upon heath, but also the environmental and social effects. Together with winemaker Alvaro Espinoza, they began converting a conventional Chilean winery into a 100% organic and biodynamic winery.
Their objective was to create high quality wines, whilst respecting people and the environment. After more than 2 decades, what began as a dream is now an extensive portfolio of products. They are highly renowned domestically and internationally.
In 2003 their first wines were released onto the market, beginning with the 2001 Vintage of Coyam. This wine received best in show and best blend at the Wines of Chile Awards. Already established as a sustainable winery, they went onto achieve CarbonZero certification in 2014. As the business continued to grow, they gained further recognition for their environmentally conscious efforts. For example the obtained vegan certification in 2019.
From the roots of their business, they have focussed on finding the best valleys in Chile in order to find optimum conditions for each grape variety. Today they own more than 100 hectares of vineyards that are all managed organically and biodynamically. This includes Casablanca Valley, Rapel Valley, and many more.
Their wines first and foremost, look to reconnect people with nature. The respect for the terroir is reflected in every glass.
