Glenmorangie Barrel Select Release 13 Year Old Cognac Cask Finish

Initially matured in ex-bourbon casks for eight years, Glenmorangie's head of whisky creation Dr. Bill Lumsden finished this whisky in Cognac casks for four years. To ensure the whisky wasn't unbalanced by the influence of wood, Lumsden sourced Cognac casks which had been used multiple times prior, resulting in less influence from the wood whilst leaving more room for the character of the whisky to shine through. Introduced in late 2021, this Barrel Select Release has been executed wonderfully, offering notes of apricot, toffee apple and stewed fruit, complemented by touches of oaky spice with brioche and marmalade. A whisky that keeps on giving.
