Full fine mousse, the touch of amber on the colour is a giveaway to the extra couple of years bottle age the Grande Reserve is given before release. The nose is quite bold, stewed apple and toasty notes, quite yeasty too, both following on to the palate which is generous, good volume, and layered, this is a complex full bodied style of Champagne which will work well with food as well as an aperatif. Perfumed aromas of rose petal, violet, mango and pineapple. Intensely flavored and penetrating; as vibrant and focused as this is, it’s also wonderfully creamy in the middle palate, with a complete absence of rough edges. Compelling flavors of exotic fruits, toast and spices, plus a hint of caramelized banana. Very long and concentrated on the back end. An outstanding, utterly harmonious blend.
