Francois Lurton (Hacienda Araucano)

The estate is based in the Colchagua Valley, a region with a cool, ocean-influenced climate. Their proximity to the Pacific Ocean brings morning mists and cool evenings. Harvest are usually done early in the morning to take advantage of lower temperatures. Grapes are brought immediately to the cellar to preserve freshness.

There are 26 hectares of vines, all certified organic, and operating under biodynamic practices. Lurton firmly believes that “producing wines as naturally as possible is good for the environment, good for consumers, and taste better!”

Lurton has continuously pioneered research into varieties, altitudes and new plots. All of this contributes to his ability to create distinguished, authentic wines.

The resulting wines have a unique personality, because they express a terroir and a single grape variety. They have extraordinary flavour which is deeply rooted in the soil.
