Glenlivet 1952 Private Collection Ultra (Gordon MacPhail)
An outstanding 62 year old bottling of Glenlivet released by Gordon and MacPhail as part of their extraordinary Private Collection Ultra series, which feature four very well-aged independent bottlings. The whisky was distilled way back in 1952, before initially being left aside to mature in a single first fill sherry cask. Some years later in 1969 the whisky was transferred into a sherry hogshead, where the whisky aged until it was finally bottled in 2014 at 43.4% ABV. The cask #69133 was specially selected by Ian Urguhart, son Neil Urguhart, and daughter Jenny Houldsworth. Which is engraved into the superb presentation case. Just 69 bottles were filled and produced. The bottling won gold medal in the 2014 Spirit design awards for Scotch whisky.
