2018 Altocedro, La Consulta Ano Cero Tempranillo, Uco Valley
Great to see a Tempranillo grape in La Consulta vineyard (Mendoza). Actually, this grape is the second to be produced in this area, possibly due to the Spanish colonisation many times ago. Karim (winemaker) and his team selected the Tempranillo from 30 year old vines. The whole bunch of vines are fermented in small concrete vats. Then 30% of the production is aged in American oak barrels for 8-10 months.

During its youth, the wine is fruity (blackberries and other black fruit) and well balanced between the body and the acidity. The tannins are smooth with an elegant texture.

This wine could be paired with most lamb dishes, pork (especially good with Spanish style pork and beans), roasted red peppers, tagines, roast game birds and hard sheep’s cheeses like Manchego.

RP99
Catena Zapata winery is one of the quality leading producers in Argentina. They are dynamic and experiment with modern technology without forgetting past traditions.

Named after a small portion of the Adrianna Vineyard, this cuvée derives its identity from the abundance of oval white stones that once formed an ancient riverbed. These stones benefit the vineyard, ensuring ideal drainage and valuable temperature fluctuations. During the day, the stones absorb and release heat, while during cold nights, they act as natural ice cubes.

This unique stony soil gives rise to Malbecs with remarkable aromas, opulence, and indulgence, exemplified in the River Malbec from Adrianna. This wine may be enjoyed in its youth or aged gracefully over decades.•    Varietal: 100% Malbec
