The Hawke's Bay region, positioned on the eastern coast of the North Island, is recognized as one of New Zealand's warmest winegrowing areas. With a prolonged and warm growing season, it provides optimal conditions for ripening, ensuring the full development of flavours in the wines produced here.

Winemaker’s notes:
“Intense, rich and complex with ripe blackberry, pepper and hints of mocha.” Selected from some of Hawke’s Bay’s finest Gimblett Gravels vineyards, this small-batch, barrel-fermented Syrah is a full and expressive style. Showing rich black and red fruit character with classic pepper notes and hints of mocha. Underlying savoury notes, fine tannins and a velvety texture offer refinement, power and persistence. Our award-winning Mission Jewelstone wines are expressive of their premium vineyard sites and barrel-fermented for textural, complex wines with rich concentration of flavour.”

30% new French oak barrels used for a 12 month maturation.
Drinking well now, with potential to develop over another 5-10 years.

2020 Sileni, Cellar Selection Pinot Noir, Hawke’s Bay
Established in 1997, Sileni Estates is located in Hawke's Bay on a mixture of gravel and clay, each bringing a different characteristics to the wine. A small amount of oak was used with this wine to add a little richness to the palate. A hint of almonds on the nose is very inviting, followed by dark fruits and a fresh palate with just the right amount of acidity. This is a great wine for matching with food, try it with salmon or tuna.

2020 Te Mata, Estate Vineyards Chardonnay, Hawke’s Bay
Scents of ripe grapefruit, lemon, white peach, pineapple and freshly baked sourdough all jumping from the glass. Delivering taut acidity and fruit-brightness alongside savoury notes of roast cashew, nougat, cinnamon, and sea salt, this is classical Hawke’s Bay chardonnay with an intensity and a long, sustained finish.

2020 Te Mata, Estate Vineyards Gamay Noir, Hawke’s Bay
Estate Gamay Noir is produced with 65% carbonic maceration, the balance being conventionally fermented. The resultant wines were aged for 9 months in seasoned French oak prior to blending and bottling.

Pronouced aromas ofstrawberry, raspberry, black cherry with subtle hints of sweet spice, liquorice and Turkish Delight. Balanced with pleasing acidity and a long, smooth finish. Delicious!

Described by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate as “New Zealand’s greatest winery”, Te Mata Estate was established in 1896 and remains family-owned.

Located in Hawke’s Bay, its range of terroirs offer winemakers a wide-ranging toolkit to express their skills.
