2011 Bruno Giacosa, Barbaresco, Asili Riserva
VM89RP95
Internationally acclaimed for crafting wines of pure, refined, and intricate character, Bruno Giacosa embarked on his winemaking journey at a youthful age of 15, contributing to the family winery established in 1871.
Located in the village of Nieve within Piedmont, Giacosa acquired his own vineyards in 1982. Guided by his 'updated traditional' winemaking philosophy, he expertly developed the attributes of the Nebbiolo grape, achieving a balance of power and elegance in his wines.

Since 2006, Bruno's daughter, Bruna, took over the reins of the estate and has successfully maintained her father's legacy, continuing to produce exceptional wines.

“This is an incredible wine that reminds me of the perfect 2000 Barolo Rocche del Falletto. Flowers, spices, leather and animals. Dried mushrooms too. Then changes to Japanese ginger and lemon peel. Full-bodied but refined and so long. It has layers of fruit and power. Decadent. Ripe and intense. Perfect balance and harmony. “

“The 2011 Barbaresco Riserva Asili (red label) is a full and generous wine that wraps thickly over the senses. The bouquet shows enormous depth and power with a generous presentation of dark fruit, cassis, balsam herb, cola, licorice, tar and lingering smoke. There is an evident sense of fruit ripeness here that helps to build momentum and staying power. Clay soils in the vineyard site have also helped to contribute to the heft and full-bodied nature of this special wine. The finish is characterized by mild acidity and lingering flavours of ripe fruit. The opulent fruit of the wine recalls the 2007 and 2004 vintages.”

2014 Musso, Barbaresco, Pora
The Musso Winery, established in 1929, is located in Barbaresco, Piemonte, in North West Italy. Nebbiolo grapes are cultivated in the estate vineyards of Musso in the historical cru of Pora. The soil reproduces the characteristic mixture of limestone and clay that produces a wine full of character and aging potential.

The hand harvested grapes are crushed and de-stemmed at the cellar. Vinification follows a traditional method in steel containers. The maceration lasts about 20 days fermentation takes place between 28° and 30° C. The new wine matures in oak barrels of 50 hectolitres for a total of 22-24 months.

Barbaresco “Pora” is a very expressive wine; very rich in aromas such as cherries, raspberries and wild strawberries along with hints of dried flowers, followed by cinnamon and vanilla. The flavour is consistent: full bodied, intense, with fine mature tannins.

Food Pairings: its complexity and fullness pair well with red meat, from roasts, stews and braised lo
