2020 Domaine Lafond, Lirac, Roc Epine
The history of the Lafond family’s Domaine dates back to the 17th century; the Lirac AOC status was established in 1947.
The blend of this Lirac Rouge is Grenache 60%, Syrah 30%, Mourvèdre 10%.

The result is a powerful and robust wine, with a complex nose of vanilla, black fruits and Morello cherries. These elements continue on the palate along with notes of vanilla, sweet spice and a twist of black pepper. Nicely balanced with a satisfyingly long finish.
Drinking well now but will keep for up to a decade.

A blend of Grenache and Syrah this medium to full-bodied red offers flavours of cooked fruits, plum and cherry with a hint of cola framed by soft tannins. The long finish has hints of licorice. A great match for beef and game.

The 2017 Lirac is a blend of 50% each of Grenache and Syrah. The grapes are all hand-picked. With spicy dark fruit flavours of plum and morello cherry and hints of cola. Soft tannins. Medium to full bodied with a long finish with hints of licorice, vanilla and pepper. Ideal with beef, lamb, charcuterie and game.

The history of the Lafond family’s Domaine dates back to the 17th century; the Lirac AOC status was established in 1947.

By having plots with a range of different soils, from “galets roulés” to limestone, the Domaine has the ability to create blends to take advantage of local “terroirs.”
Organic certification was established in 2012.

The blend of this Lirac Rouge is Grenache 60%, Syrah 30%, Mourvèdre 10%.

Grapes are all handpicked, and then destemmed; vatting takes place for 14 to 20 days; followed by pressing. After fermenting in stainless steel tanks, maturation takes place in new oak barrels for 3 or 4 months. The bottled wine is kept for at least 6 months before selling.

The result is a powerful and robust wine, with a complex nose of vanilla, black fruits and Morello cherries. These elements continue on the palate along with notes of vanilla, sweet spice and a twist of black pepper.

Goes well with charcuterie, red meat, game and cheese
