Akashi Blended Whisky – Sherry Cask Finish
The Eigashima Shuzo (AKA White Oak) distillery retains a special place in the history of Japanese whisky, being the first Japanese distillery to register for a whisky license, though their production didn't start in earnest until the 1980s. This blended expression is a composition of around 30% malt whisky from the distillery and 70% grain whisky from abroad. Matured initially in ex-bourbon American oak casks before a finishing period in sherry casks. The gentleness of blended whisky combined with the robust characters imparted by ex-sherry casks lead to a nicely complex whisky, offering notes of dried fruits and cereal, with a spirit-forward fruitiness on the palate.
