Glen Grant 65 Year Old 1958 – Mr George Legacy Fourth Edition (Gordon & MacPhail)
The fourth edition in a range of exceptional casks from Gordon & MacPhail's unparalleled reserves. The Mr. George Legacy series is an extremely limited collection of rare casks laid down by none other than Mr. George Urquart himself, a pivotal figure in the vision of aged malts offered by Gordon & MacPhail today and a man who helped shape the reputation of Scotch Whisky worldwide. This astonishing malt was drawn from the stills of the world-renowned Glen Grant distillery and laid down into a single first fill sherry butt in 1958. For 65 years the whisky developed under the watchful eyes of Mr. Geroge and his successors, always destined to be a malt of exceptional age, before finally being deemed ready in November of 2023. They say "A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit" - a wisdom at the very soul of Gordon & MacPhail; a company whose foresight has granted the world the oldest and possibly greatest malts ever produced. Only 376 bottles were yielded from this single cask, bottled at cask strength without colouring or chill-filtration.

Shirakawa 1958
Established in 1939, Shirakawa Distillery was founded by Daikoku Budoshu who was responsible for later building Karuizawa Distillery in 1956. Shirakawa was once located north of Tokyo near the Abukuma River in the Fukushima Prefecture, where it began producing malt whisky from 1951 until 1969. In 2003 the distillery was closed and demolished, and in 2011 the land was donated by owner Takara Shuzo to build emergency housing following the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.

In 2019, a parcel of 1958 vintage Shirakawa single malt was discovered resting in a stainless steel tank, forgotten for decades in one of its parent company's warehouses. 1958 marks the earliest known single vintage Japanese whisky ever bottled, and only 1,500 decanters were produced.
