Glen Grant 63 Year Old 1959 – Mr. George Legacy Third Edition (Gordon & MacPhail)
Very few bottlers can so readily release a 63 year old whisky to the market like the indomitable Gordon & MacPhail; the shrewd forward thinking by second-generation-family owner Mr George Urquhart has led to possibly the most enviable stock of rare whiskies in the world, setting an everlasting precedent for the business. In honour of Mr. George's influence on the Scotch whisky industry, Gordon & MacPhail have released a cask that was filled under Mr. George's reign: this 1959 single cask of Glen Grant. The Glen Grant distillery was a particular favourite of Mr. George, and this 1959 distillate was filled into a bespoke first fill sherry butt where it matured for a staggering 63 years before being realised in this astonishing bottling.

An aromatic nose of Autumnal spices and polished wood, with brighter notes of sticky dried fruits and demerara sugar, masterfully complement the soft citrus fruits of the original Glen Grant character. After a patient nosing, a sip reveals stewed and baked fruits of raspberry and Seville oranges, with a delicate touch of garden mint, before richer notes of cocoa powder and elegant oak.
