Tasting Notes
Producer’s Tasting Notes
Nose: Intense, pungent and aromatic with hints of sweetness – expect a distinctive farmyard scent drifting along with a crunchy aroma of creosote or tar. A splash of water disturbs the vapours and billows of dark chocolate cream laced with smoked artichoke emerge.
Palate: On the palate, darker flavours and notes arise. A burst of bittersweetness surges with flavours of ashy coal, cardamom, peppermint and ground coffee. Dark chocolate and eucalyptus then roll in, obscuring the fruit and floral notes usually found at the heart of Ardbeg whiskies, followed by wisps of aniseed and cinnamon.
