2023 Emile Balland, Sancerre, Croq Caillotte
This is a top notch Sancerre showing citrus and apple fruit, perfectly poised minerality and mouth-watering acidity. Classy and offers terrific value for money.
Gorgeously grassy with citrus and mineral notes. It presents green tinged fruit- grapefruit leads to pineapple, with a lovely flinty note, good acidity, it has real depth of flavour, creamy too on the long finish.

Crisp green apples are balance by a creaminess from malolactic fermentation and the natural richness of Chenin, while the stainless steel allows the explosive acidity to turn the wine up a notch.

Apple blossom, pastry and hay aromas. The palate has concentrated and intense flavours with so many layers of complexity and vibrancy. Bright and weighty the finish has a lovely mouth-watering sensation that leaves you wanting more. Drinking really well now but I think this will also improve with age. Absolutely delicious!

2022 Dimitri Mesnard, Quincy, Quartz
Twelve miles southwest of Sancerre, the village of Quincy produces some outstanding Sauvignon Blanc. The wines of this eastern Loire region were the first to receive official AOC status in August 1936. The vineyard’s soil is sandy and features clay areas.

When Dimitri Mesnard (Master Sommelier) inherited a small plot in Brinay close by, he decided to work closely with the Tatin family, who helped him select the vines and the vinification process. The entire Cuvee is around 3000 bottles.

Classic and renowned French style. A beautiful, complete Sancerre. It is light-bodied, with a bright minerality. Notes of passionfruit, guava and pear build up to a long-finish. This is combined with subtle hints of quince and grapefruit. This wine is very delicate and precise.

2019 Chateau de Plaisance, Anjou, Sur la Butte
This is the first vintage from Vanessa Cherruau, who has excelled herself from the off. The vineyard is called “Sur la Butte” and lies on schist soil. The grapes (30% Cabernet franc and 70% Cabernet Sauvignon) are manually harvested and 100% destemmed. The vinification process started with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel vats and at the final stage, the wine is aged in concrete vats.

2020 Chateau de Plaisance, Cremant de Loire Nature
This sparkling wine, from the Anjou region, is made exclusively from Chenin. Its fine and delicate foam is the result of an ancestral winemaking method.
This nectar reveals a sophisticated and nuanced aromatic bouquet. It opens with bright primary aromas of green apple, pear and white flowers, characteristic of Chenin. Nuances of toast, brioche and yeast are also felt. Over time, notes of honey, hazelnut and almond are revealed. The liveliness of the bubbles offers a sensation of freshness in the mouth.
