2020 Alma das Donas, Almalarga Godello, Ribeira Sacra
Located in Ribeira Sacra, in north-west Spain’s Galicia region the winery’s production is based exclusively on grapes from vineyards on the slopes of the River Sil.
The vines are cultivated by hand on the terraces steep, south/south-west facing slopes.

This wine is made from the Godello varietal – a high quality varietal, indigenous to the region.
In the 1970s, this grape variety almost became extinct, but thanks to the efforts of winemakers in Galicia who recognized its quality and potential, it was rescued. Subsequently, there has been a surge in plantings, and Godello has gained such acclaim that it is now regarded by some as Spain's finest white grape variety.

The nose is dominated by fruity aromas of apple, pear, peach and a touch of citrus.
The wine is balanced and creamy, tempered by a distinct minerality. The length is good, with a well-rounded, elegant finish.

Because of that combination of flavours, Godello wines go really well with shellfish, but the fact that they have more body and more complex characteristics means they also work with stronger flavours like octopus with paprika or anchovies and it’s a great accompaniment to cheeses.

If you enjoy white Burgundies, you’ll like this wine a lot!

2014 Arrocal, Ribera del Duero, Crianza Meloso
One of Spain's top red wine–producing regions, Ribera del Duero is located in the northwest of the country, about 160km north of Madrid or Ribera del Duero 125 km south-west of Rioja.

The region benefits from a Mediterranean climate, with a continental influence and an extreme nature; it boasts dry summers, long and harsh winters, low rainfall (400-500 mm/year average) and a large difference in temperatures throughout the year (from -20°C to 42°C ).
This results in grapes that are small in size, with thick skins, that have benefited from an optimal slow and late ripening period leading to concentrated flavours.

Bodega Arrocal is a family owned winery, run by Rosa Arroyo and Moisés Calvo, who are native to the area.

AGE OF THE VINEYARD: 30 years. ALTITUDE: 830 meters sea level.
VARIETY: 100% Tinto Fino. (Tempranillo)
HARVEST: Manual in 16 Kg boxes and selection table.
Aging: 12 months in a combination of American and French oak barrels and 12 months ageing in the bottle.
Aromas and flavours of black and forest fruits - blueberries, blackberries and plums, with spicy touches such as vanilla, nutmeg and cloves.
This Crianza is nicely balanced, with toasted and balsamic nuances of black liquorice and forest floor.
Harmonious and velvety tannins, which provide structure and complexity.

Serve at around 14°C with meat stews cheese platters, fatty fish, roasted vegetables and rice or pasta dishes.

NV Ataman Vermut Barbadillo
A vermouth from a range originally created by Barbadillo in the 1940s. It consists of absinthe, quassia tree bark, rosemary, Seville orange and elderberry on a base of Manzanilla sherry. The result is a rich and very herbal vermouth with a bold bitterness and real depth of flavour.
With its richness and complex flavours it puts the mass produced versions well and truly in the shade.

2021 Clos de Lom, Malvasia Vino de Finca, Valencia
This Malvasía wine shows a bright greenish yellow colour. It has a high intensity aroma of ripe fruits; such as red apple, peach, lychee with a floral background of orange blossom. This is reflected in the palate: ripe fruits, with good structure, noted for its freshness, balanced acidity and a long and tasty mouth finish.  Works well with tapas, seafood, thai rice dishes, grilled fish, or simply as a refreshing aperitif.
The Malvasia grapes are processed using the latest technology. They are destemmed, crushed and macerated in a continuous homogenizer. A selection of yeasts enable a three weeks, slow fermentation, to extract maximum aromatic power and richness of nuances in the mouth. The wine spends a further four months on its lees to get more complexity and volume of flavour.

2015 Jean Leon, Penedes, Vinya Scala Gran Reserva
In 2008, the Jean Leon winery began applying organic farming methods; from the 2012 vintage onwards, all of their wines have been labelled as certified organic. Jean Leon entrusted his legacy to the Torres family in 1994 and since then the winery has stayed true to the philosophy of its founder and kept fighting tirelessly for his dreams.

Made from a single vineyard called Vinya La Scala in the heart of Penedes, these 8 hectares on calcareous clay soils produce a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grape wine.
After a hand harvest the grapes are fermented in the stainless-steel vats at a controlled temperature for around 18 days. The final wine ages in French oak barrels for 24 months, followed by a bottle ageing for at least three years in the cellar.

Tasting note:
Dark cherry red hue with mature shades of brick along the rim. Medium to deep colour intensity. The nose is remarkably intense, with notes of red fruit compote against a backdrop of toast and spices acquired during

The 2004 Gran Reserva 890 is the top of the range here, a wine that is only released three/four times per decade in exceptional years. They start by sourcing grapes from their oldest vineyards and going through a slow process of aging the wine in American oak barrels for six years, with ten manual rackings, and each time there is a selection of only the best barrels. The bottled wine is 13.5% alcohol. The nose is all about forest floor aromas, game, cigar ash, incense, old furniture and some smoked meat. The palate is very fresh with slightly dusty tannins and nice acidity.

2015 La Rioja Alta, Gran Reserva 904, Rioja
VM95
Gran Reserva 904 was first made in 1904, with the 2015 vintage the first ever 904 Seleccion Especial ever made. Rioja Alta has only awarded this classification to the Gran Reserva 890 2001 and 2005 and the Vina Ardanza 1964, 1973, 2001 and 2010.

This is a very elegant 904 from an outstanding vintage. A must for Rioja lovers!

904 is almost peerless in the fine wine world in terms of value for money and its maturity upon release makes it an extremely exciting proposition. The 904 release is one of the most anticipated releases in the fine wine calendar, with demand far outstripping supply. As with other vintages this wine is only made in great vintages and is released only when the winery thinks it is ready to drink, however it also has several years of drinking ahead of it.
