Blankbottle

“People like to label me. Some say I’m a winemaker, an ideas guy, a marketer, a surfer, an actor, a garagiste, a negociant, an entrepreneur. I prefer not to carry a label. To be honest, I wouldn’t know what to label myself. It’s like my wine, BLANKBOTTLE… it’s just a blank bottle. You can’t judge it by the label; it takes drinking a whole bottle to get to know the wine.” Pieter H. Walser

Pieter Walser stands as one of the most innovative winemakers and visionary minds within the wine industry. He epitomizes pure devotion to his craft, embodying qualities of an artist and a nonconformist thinker. Pieter refuses to be bound by the norms of everyday life or the dictates of what some might call the "wine-police," rejecting constraints on how he produces, the appearance and flavour of his wines, and even their names.

On his journey, Pieter has discarded the rulebook while traversing dusty farm roads, exploring the Cape en route to visit the numerous cuvées he crafts each vintage—yes, a staggering 30+.
While one might perceive his approach as sheer lunacy, the truth is quite the opposite: Pieter is a genius. This brilliance shines brightly when one opens a bottle of his wine or explores his website, delving into the tales behind each wine, his sources of inspiration, and witnessing the boundless creativity and ingenuity of this true artist.
