2021 Chateau Mercian, Koshu Gris de Gris
Since 1995, Mitsuhiro Anzo has made wine at Chateau Mercian. This wine is made from Koshu grapes (480 hectares in Japan) which are grown in the North West of Tokyo (Fuefuki district, Yamanashi prefecture) at over 400 metres altitude. The grapes are picked at the end of September to early October. Three weeks are spent on skins to achieve the vibrant orange hue. After a classic fermentation process, the wine is aged in oak barrels for 8 months.
