2016 Chateau de Chantegrive Graves
Chateau de Chantegrive is a large, well known and estate in the Graves region. This area is at the south of Bordeaux city. Graves comes from the soil character of mixed gravel, pebbles, stones, and sand. The property has 96 hectares of vine with an average of 25 years of age. The family business started in 1966 with Henry and Francoise Leveque. Now, the new generation is led by Marie Helene Leveque, her sister and brothers. Since 2006, Hubert de Boüard (Château Angélus) helps the chateau to produce their wines.
In 2017 Chantegrive was awarded the highest rate (3) under the label High Value Environment.
It is a blend of 50% of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It is vinified in stainless steel vats for 3 to 4 weeks then 50% of the production is transferred to age in French oak barrels.
Chateau Chantegrive can be enjoyed in it’s youthness with decanting (45 minutes). This allows the wine to soften the tannins and open its aromas. The wine is a deep garnet colour. The nose
