Tasting Notes

The 2021 Latour a Pomerol has manifested a little more refinement on the nose since I tasted it from barrel. It is not exceptionally complex, but there is definition and focus, revealing a mixture of red and black fruit with rosemary and thyme that emerge with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with silky tannins and a keen line of acidity, quite structured with admirable cohesion toward the finish. This has more finesse than expected and after its low-key entry, there is a sense of flourish on the finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2028-2042

The 2021 Latour a Pomerol offers good up-front appeal. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, cinnamon, orange peel, new leather and cedar are front and center. The 2021 is an attractive Latour a Pomerol, even if it loses some persistence on the mid-palate and finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2027-2041

100% Merlot. Cask sample.Ripe, fleshy and aromatic, the tannins light but finely honed. Less intensity and excitement but will probably develop further in the bottle. (JL)
Anticipated maturity: 2026-2036
