Tasting Notes
Vinous 85-88
(a blend of 58% cabernet sauvignon, 36% merlot and 6% cabernet franc) Full ruby. Pure, high-pitched aromas of cassis, black cherry and licorice. Juicy, bright and primary, with slightly elevated acids and a hint of greenness but good stuffing. The tannins are smooth and arrive late. Offers a nice combination of cabernet sauvignon structure and merlot flesh. Seems finer than the 2005.
Wine Advocate 88
Tasted at Bordeaux Index’s annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Chateau Les Ormes de Pez has a slightly dusty, earthy bouquet that is typical Saint Estephe. The palate is medium-bodied with bold tannin, mulberry and red plum notes, with hints of sage and cooked meat towards the finish; though a subsequent bottle demonstrated less of that distracting dustiness on the nose and also better weight on the palate. Tasted April 2016.
