2016 Canon 1er Grand Cru St Emilion
VM97RP98+JR18
Decanter 98/100
“This vintage delivers a beautiful, classic style of Canon that is right at the top of what St-Émilion can offer. Compact and dense without being hard, it is finely structured both in terms of the texture of the cassis and blackberry fruits and in the shape of the tannins.

It demonstrates a clear minerality and a feather-brushing of violet notes. This is less obviously sexy than 2015, but is a wine that offers a masterclass in what limestone terroir can convey - salinity, succulence, hints of austerity and reserves of power.

I retasted it a few times, and the main take away of what to expect is layers of flavour and huge persistency. The details of how they worked the vintage are an added bonus to understanding how they achieved this result. When it started getting hot and dry, they left all green cover on the vines, and did no green harvesting except tidying up in September. The result was loading the vines to avoid over-concentration.”

2016 Catena Zapata, Nicolas Catena Zapata, Mendoza
JR18
With its debut vintage in 1997, Nicolás Catena Zapata marked a historic milestone as Argentina's first luxury cuvée to reach global markets. This exceptional wine pays homage to the classic "Original Bordeaux Blend" of the 18th and 19th centuries, where Malbec reigned supreme over Merlot and stood on par with Cabernet Sauvignon in the Médoc region.

The 2016 vintage comprised 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Malbec, 8% Cabernet Franc.Hand-harvesting is employed for the grapes, with certain sections undergoing whole bunch fermentation to amplify tannic structure and preserve freshness.
The fermentation occurs in a combination of 500-litre oak barrels, concrete, and stainless-steel tanks, maintaining temperatures at 26-28ºC for a duration of approximately 10-15 days.
Malolactic fermentation follows and the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.

2016 Champagne Lilbert Cramant Grand Cru Blanc de Blanc
On the nose, it exudes a maritime essence, a refreshing hint of brininess, and embodies the chalky characteristics of a Blanc de Blancs. The palate delivers a gentle effervescence and an invigorating finish with a gracefully balanced body. Initially, it may appear understated and reserved upon opening, but with a bit of encouragement, its restrained qualities gradually reveal themselves. This is a Champagne crafted for the connoisseurs who appreciate the purest expressions of the style.

2016 Chateau Chasse-Spleen, Moulis en Medoc
VM93RP92JR16
The name Chasse Spleen, meaning “Chase away melancholy”, was baptised as such in 1862 after a Baudealaire poem. The estate production goes back to the 16th century and the Chateau itself to the 18th century.
Owned by Celine Villars (2nd generation) and Jean Pierre her husband. Her uncle carried out a renovation in the cellar and also improved the culture in the vineyards in the seventies.
The wine is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc.
